Work Diary

[Work Diary] 9 Days, 36 Years

We had cancellations all day today due to very strong wind, therefore we had some extra time to talk to our passengers. Good thing is that most of them were very nice today. (They understood that it’s the weather and they didn’t want to fly on a plane that’s gonna tilt.)

This gentleman told us about his work and family while we were on hold with our ticket help desk. He graduated from a local college, but now lives in the south with his family. His wife also graduated from the same college.

“I met her and nine days later we were engaged.” He smiled. “I was a freshman.”

And I thought people in Utah were fast – but nine days – can’t even compare!!

“We knew each other was the right person! And now, we have been married for 36 years and counting.” He continued. “My parents got engaged on the same day they met. It was leap year so my mom actually proposed. They got married two months after. Haha.”

W.O.W. !!! What can you say to that? I didn’t know what to say. Is this genetics?

“The one advice I give to young couples is that, ‘I don’t always like my wife, but I love her everyday.'” He said.

I really felt his love to his wife. How true is that! We don’t always like each other, but we LOVE each other. People sometimes mix up the two feelings and think they are “not right” for each other. There are days that you just don’t want to talk to each other – and that’s OK! Calm down, ask yourself, “Do I love him/her?” “Do I see myself growing old with this person?” If the answer is “yes,” then work it out!

The passenger told us, “It’s all about the work!”

Just like anything else, you need to “work” your relationship. You need to talk to your friends to keep the friendship. Why do you think you don’t need to do anything for your marriage? (It sounds like I know a lot… )

I hope one day, people can feel my love towards my husband just from how we talk. How I talk.

  1. What a beautiful post. You don’t have to like them every second, but if love is there, things do work out. Ups and downs are all part of life. So much happens, but it’s how you deal with it all that matters. In the end, it’s the two of you against it all…I will be married 26 years. It is work, just like anything that is worth it. I wish you the best!!!!!
